Design Accreditation will enhance professional practice standards and competency of design workforce to provide developers and the public assurance of quality landscape works
Singapore, 12 October 2015 – The Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects (SILA) will be the first to launch its Landscape Architects Accreditation under the DesignSingapore Council’s (Dsg) Design Accreditation Framework. The accreditation programme will be launched formally on 12 October 2015 at the Singapore Landscape Architects Awards Gala Dinner.
Dsg established the Design Accreditation Framework to promote design excellence and strengthen the competitiveness of the design industry to create more opportunities for Singapore designers. This is achieved by raising practice standards and quality of design services, continuing professional development (CPD) and benchmarking of competencies.
“With the accreditation, end users such as government agencies, private developers and the public can be assured of the quality of works delivered by these accredited landscape architects when they engage them,” said Mr Jeffrey Ho, Executive Director of Dsg.
“For Singapore as a ‘City in a Garden’, having the accreditation for landscape architects in place will help to set an international benchmark for Singapore landscape and greenery design. We hope that it will enhance employability and create better opportunities for career advancement for landscape architects,” said Mr Damian Tang, President of SILA.
